Albert has a background in helping women recover their pelvic floor from childbirth. He started this specialization back in 2015 following a certification program to learn in depth the Hypopressive method by the International Hypopressive & Physical Therapy institute. A postural and breathing training specially designed for the pelvic floor. Albert understands global movement, global connections, posture patterns and when to work locally and when to work globally. Structural bodyworker, massage therapist and a movement enthusiast with knowledge in functional movement and the importance of movement in health. He helps both men and women with a variety of imbalances in the pelvic area.


When to release and when to strengthen? 

Together with Albert you are going to determine where to start. Hypertonic (tight) or Hypotonic (weak) muscles. Which of the 4 quadrants of the pelvic floor is in which condition and what to do with that for better balance and stability. Release the tight. Strengthen the weak.

You are going to retrain the area for it to have the natural automatic reflex as well as bringing awareness to the pelvic floor muscles and have all the natural functions it's designed to: sustain/hold, to let go, sexual function, stability and force and as a lymphatic pump. 

Breath, awareness exercises, functional movement, kegels, hypopressive exercises, voice, ... They all come at the right time when rehabilitating the pelvic floor. 

Gender difference

Both genders have a pelvic floor yet the dysfunctions vary statistically. Whilst men often need to release more, women need more control and awareness, in general. Anatomical and functional differences for both genders and each individual create a need for individual assessment and treatment, regardless of the gender. Everybody has a different postural pattern in the pelvis, it could be that 1 of the 4 quadrants is hypertonic and the other are fine, or 2 quadrants are hypotonic and 2 hypertonic, so it really depends on each of us. Please consult a professional before using a yoni egg, pelvic floor activation or release exercises. You don't want to switch off, for example, a muscle that is already weak and increase the existing pattern, ending with seeking a "release" sensation without realizing that this doesn't help in a holistic way.

Hypertonicity (tightness). What to do with it?

Frustration? Sensation of powerlessness? Pain? Not to worry. Hypertonic patterns need to be addressed before exercising the pelvic floor muscles. For severe and not so severe cases of tightness, Albert will use the Harmonic Technique to harmonize the tissues and nervous system for half of the session. The rest of the session will include fascial release, bodywork and coaching on the use of trigger point balls or your own hands for self treatment. The pattern might easily be in the whole body due to years of stress, bad posture and misuse of the body, as well as emotional causes and trauma. That's why it's important to go through a Structural Bodywork process every few months/years.
